Tucson Tamale Company - San Xavier

Placed our order and watched several tables that came in after us get their food first. We went inside to ask what happened and they told us they forgot to make our order. We waited while they finally made the food. It wasn’t worth the wait. The salsa wasn’t very good, beans were flavorless and the blue corn veggie tamale was terrible. The green chile tamale was okay. 3 out of 10, do not recommend.

We have ordered and shipped all over country... the Tamales were amazing! Then Tucson tamales starting coming from California... heavy masa, near zero filling and flavorless. You used to be able to built your own boxes,, so everyone in the family got their favorites. It changed to 16 pack minimums. I have a basket full in my freezer. Then they did a big crowd fund to get all their loyal customers to invest in the company. We thought great.... good food, local business that we have believed in for years.... So sad... corporate greed... they want commercial accounts, not loyal customers.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have to be REALLY gringo to believe that these are authentic tamales. I mean, I'm as gringo as they come and even I know the Masa isn't made correctly. I feel sad for people who travel long distances to taste this fast food version of an desert SW staple. You can throw a rock in this town and hit an abuelita who can make far more traditional and delicious tamales. Don't be lazy, seek out authentic food while you are visiting Tucson. You won't regret it. Alternatively just eat at Eegees and at least you won't be offending the ancestors ?
