A long-time dining establishment that is homey, friendly, and a good value. Serves breakfast and lunch. Worth a visit.

This used to be one of the best places in town for home cooked food from scratch. I don’t know why but they now add some kind of mush or filler to their chicken fried steak, burgers, meatloaf etc. They must be having financial problems because people are now bringing in their own hot sauce so they don’t get it watered down, they offer you one jelly etc. It’s not a very welcoming feeling when you have to decide what flavor jelly you want when you place your order because you’re only getting one packet. Haha(but it’s true) If that’s the case, compromising the quality of your food and reputation that took decades to build isn’t the answer. This is, or was, the last place in town to get a home cooked meal. I hope they figure it out.

I've been dining at Balon's for more than a couple of decades. Always great. Always got their chicken dinner. Alas, they don't do that anymore. So... I opted to experiment with their mushrooms and Swiss burger. Wow! Hand-made ciabatta bun topped with a H-U-G-E burger made just right with some excellent fries. Gonna do that again.

I'm giving 3 stars because I have always liked the food but Saturday the 23rd we were there for lunch and I got the meatloaf and it was the worst food I've ever had from them I didn't say anything about it but I should have it was just plain nasty know I won't get that
