We traveled to Arizona to drop our daughter at college. Each and every person at the front desk (and security officers, housekeeping) greeted us and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. It is rare to see exceptional customer service at a hotel (or anyplace) anymore. They really stood out. Thank you for helping to make our trip to Arizona a good one. As a side note, the warm chocolate chip cookies were delicious. My teenage boys want the recipe. Shout out to hotel staff: Stevie, Barry, Maddie, Renee, Arie, Alex, Steve, and Mario who were all fabulous!
We went for a birding festival which was advertised to have bar food, breakfast provided for birders and shuttles to restaurants since the hotel restaurant was closed. None of these things were true. There was no food served at the bar, the breakfast service was $15 per person and did not start until 6:30 and most trips left at 5:30 so there were donuts that 's it, donuts for breakfast. There were NO hotel shuttles and the hotel is located next to NOTHING! If one did not have a car, then you had to hire a ride or walk somewhere in the 103 degrees! Front desk said there would be sandwiches for sale in the gift shop , meaning the little tiny snack buying area next to the front desk. The whole time I was there I noticed 6 sandwiches come in for sale and about the same amount of salads that had no protein. We got 2 of the sandwiches and have to say, they were very good. But there should have been fresh ones every day. Maybe I missed them because of the field trips, but the fridge was usually mostly bare. Other than that, though, the hotel is very nice and clean and comfortable with a nice outdoor pool. Their ad says there is a landscaped garden but.....hmmm. Not sure what they meant there. Pretty much just buildings with some grass bordered by trees.
The hotel grounds and location of rooms are a little confusing as you start to follow a path, for example, to the pool or back to your room and come across locked gates and have to double back. The location isn't great as it is a long walk into the town with little or no open bars along the way, depending on the time of day. However, there is public transport into town, with the bus stop a five minute walk. There is a golf course across from the hotel. The room was clean, a decent size and as we were on the ground floor, we had a little terrace. The bar has proper bottles tonic water (not many bars that we visited in USA do). However, the barmaid was a little frosty when I asked if I could pour my own, but I explained that I don't like it drowned and after that she was lovely.
I stay with my family due to a storm as an emergency and I was sleeping and feel animal crawling in my legs. I wake up turn the lights on and see bugs in the bed. I was unable to go to the lobby since I was exhausted. Next morning, I informed the supervisor and the front desk ladies and they told me “sorry” we will refund the night to you and we will call you after the fumigator come and confirm what kind of bugs are they. I was afraid of getting sick with lupus or something. until today nobody call. They don’t care about hygiene, safety and sanitation. the bathroom was filthy and with dirty towels under the bathroom sink. definitely to be part of the HILTON chain this is very disappointing.
