Luchito Restaurante - San Roman

It was cheap, terrible service, dirty, but tasty. It's up, just step over the cockroaches, ready for a moment, but the food is good.

This restaurant is just a few meters from the market, in La Merced. I was surprised to see a fairly upscale restaurant so close to the market, cuz the market is very simple, blue collar and is known for very cheap food. But... Luchito is a beautiful, very clean and welcoming place. I ordered a Talare en salsa de huacaina con lomo salado and I enjoyed it a lot. The Lomo was juicy and tasty and filled the noodles. With a bottle of water, the meal costs $6 USD, so it is slightly expensive for the area, but not really expensive. I will definitely try to eat the del dia menu at noon, and see how the quality compares with other fixed price lunches in Peru. I love it, good food for less than $3 USD and that's what's great about Peru.
