Whole Foods Market - San Rafael

I think this grocery store has a good selection of meat, but I am not impressed with their plant-based meat substitutes. The prices are high, but they do have some good quality and reasonably priced produce.

There are hardly any vegan options available, especially for breakfast. Cross-contamination of meat and cheese is a major concern, particularly at the mixed bar. It seems like vegans are left with no choice. It's disappointing because I used to spend a lot of money at the hot bar.

While even the most affordable Whole Foods stores are expensive, this particular location is aiming for the top. When it comes to the essentials, most people would be better off shopping at Trader Joe's across the street, where you can find a variety of organic produce and vegetarian/vegan options at more affordable prices. However, if there's something that Trader Joe's doesn't carry, such as exotic produce, Whole Foods is conveniently located nearby and willing to help you empty your wallet.

We visit this location when seeing Dirk's parents in Marin. We need to stock up on vegan items when we stay with them! It's had all the stuff we've needed, even during the busy holidays. We shop and then take some deli items to go too.
