We weren't happy with either the food or the service here. We arrived and sat at a table and were ignored for 15 minutes. There was only one other rabble occupied at the time. Since they were new we hung in there and stayed and ordered. The food wasn't awful but nothing spectacular. With so many incredible places to eat in town. I won't be coming back.
Just opened at the end of 2015, on the quieter part of the main road in Melaque. Easily accessible by bike, on foot or by local bus. Some tables are set on the side of the road under umbrellas and lots of space inside the building too. English is spoken to some extent and the menu also has some English translation of some of the dishes. Their Pizzas ( a choice of 6 different ones) are very tasteful and are not pre frozen! As is to be expected in Mexico, the service is slow, but who is in a hurry whilst on holiday?Great tasting food at reasonable prices and you may lucky to be entertained by a local guitarist!
Restaurante Bertha is a good value-for-your-peso eatery. Nothing fancy but great food. Breakfast from 35p, coffee 10p, good selection of seafood, burgers, Mexican but little otherwise. They make excellent pizza from 85p small to 180p Xlarge. English-speaking with good service. I recommend the place.
Andreas, the very personable owner of Bertha will literally make you whatever you like, however you like it! He and his wife used to have a little Fonda in a tiny alleyway of Fonda's and meat shops right in the centre of town. They also had another restaurant, "Pizza Time", in another location in town. Now they are combined in this new location, about a block up the street from the Banamex, on the same side of the road. We have eaten here regularly when in Melaque, and have never had a meal that was not great! Also very affordable, 35p for an omelet, 90p for fantastic, fall off the bone bbq ribs, great pizzas with thick crust starting at 70p! We had a whole red snapper (3lbs.) with veggies and rice for two for only150p! This place just does it all simple and right. Andreas is also a great source of knowledge, since he speaks English fluently from his 20 plus years working in U.S. Restaurants. If you want anything he does not have, you just have to ask, and he will get it for you and cook it for any occasion you wish. I just love feeling and being treated like I am golden, you will too!
