Kafe W - San Miguel de Allende

Very nice, quiet inside courtyard with coffee, but the service is slow and there are very limited snacks, baked, etc. to go with coffee. hardly justifies a return.

Good coffee, from the hand service. nice to sit and relax. we stopped seeing a break from it. none of the customers has eaten, only quiet coffee as they surfed in the net. when we looked at lunchtime, we took this as a sign to stick with only coffee. nothing special about the menu.

We had a great breakfast served by Gustavo. I describe it as Rico, Bonito, and Barato . Excellent, great presentation, very affordable. We look forward to returning to enjoy a salad and pizza.

My home in San Miguel is a few blocks from a branch of Kafe W on the Ancha de San Antonio, where I buy my freshly roasted Colombian coffee beans. I have eaten there on occasion and found the food and service outstanding. Alas, the...original Kafe W on Mesones did not compare favorably. The coffee was fine but the food and service were disappointments. Staff did not attend to me for some time; they mistook my order, and the food was moderately cold when it got to my table--without silverware which I had to get up and ask for. My advice for great coffee AND great food: go to the branch on the Ancha, located in a new space, not exactly hipsterish but not faux colonial either.

I needed a place to just think, and since I was there between 1 pm and 3 pm, it was very quiet and lovely. As mentioned, Gustavo is pleasant and wants his guests to feel at home. There is wine and beer, along with coffee...beverages and cakes and regular menu items. I was pleased and will return.
