Romolo's Cannoli - San Mateo

I have a dozen cannolis as a gift for a day, could not lie the best gift I have ever got. will definitely go back and get a few!

This little gem feels like an Italian gelateria. The unfortunate location, far away from city center, makes it difficult to get here. I wasn't surprised the place was completely empty. However, they must do something good as they have been running for 50 years. Believe me they do! Cannoli shells are super thin and crispy (all cannoli are filled to order! , not too sweet, made according to an authentic Sicilian recipe. Ricotta filling is rich, creamy and fresh. Just amazingly tasty! They offer wide selection of flavors and styles. Cannoli filled with ice cream were quite surprising (tried them for the first time but I really liked them as well. I remember that during my visit to Italy I couldn't find fresh cannoli. I desperately wanted to try that Italian specialty at the place of origin. I ended up eating mediocre cannoli which was prepared at least two days earlier. A couple years later I finally found a place that specializes in preparing fresh cannoli 5,000 miles from Italy. What an irony! The young woman who took my order was very friendly and answered all my questions regarding the assortment. It is a simple, subtle but very welcome concept. Love this place!

Wow. This is the definition of decadent indulgence! I bit into this cannoli and for the first couple seconds I forgot about Bay Area traffic, car accidents and heat waves. This place brings happiness. Pick a cannoli and you too can have all your problems melt away into blissful sugary joy.

Best Cannoli’s in California!!Just happened to see this place driving by and hopped in to grab some cannoli e café.What a story behind this place and glad to see it’s still in business!Amazing handmade everything- nothing is outsourced.Only wish would be that their espresso machine was on so I could have a cappuccino- missing out on the coffee sales guys!!
