Umami Japanese - San Marcos

If you're looking to eat some Japanese food near CSU San Marcos, go here. Food is pretty good. We ordered their bento box dinner and Ramen. Tasty! Pretty atmosphere. Loved their wood tables.

The food is always great here! We've ate in before and ordered takeout. The prices are very reasonable. Today it took a little long for someone to come back and check to see if we were done eating. I think they might have went on break or something, but when we finally did catch one of the servers, they brought the check and to go boxes very quickly. I still love their food and will go back again!Parking: There is limited street parking in front of the restaurant. It's limited to 1 hour on the week days until after 5pm. There is other street parking located all around the area... some with a time limit and some without. There is also a parking structure with free 2 hr parking or paid parking options as well.

Cute little sushi place right around the corner from Cal State San Marcos. Definitely a younger crowd. Neat little shopping center. Street parking is tough but the garage west of the restaurant is free. Small place so it can get crowded. The food and service was good. The seafood was fresh and the portions were a decent size. Friend wanted to go there for her birthday. Good suggestion!

This place was SO good. Hands down my new favorite Japanese restaurant in the San Diego area. We had bento boxes (spicy teriyaki and chicken cutlet) and split an extra roll on the side. The food was great, the portions were huge, and the service was unbelievably speedy despite a packed house. Only negative is the mixed tempura was a little undercooked--I would recommend against choosing that with your bento. Street parking is scarce but there's a huge, free public lot less than a block away.

Well now I know what the hype is about regarding this place. This is ? sushi on a whole different level! The spicy lemon just melts in your mouth! The super albacore was amazing! So much fish and so delicious ? my favorite sushi that I order everywhere I go as a means of comparison is Philadelphia roll, even this simple roll was just different. So fresh and flavorful. Not sure what flavoring the chef uses but it?s just right!
