It is true that lately, especially with the restrictions of movement to other communities after the cove, it tends to be very full of people on weekends. but if you come to go when there are not many people, it is a great place to get there after a small route through a beautiful forest (write, by the way, very suitable for children of 6 years.)
Good view of the slag and above all of the true monastery of the slag of the chair of the felipe ii, according to tradition the king went to this area of rocks to observe the progress of the construction of the monastery that lasted in the xvi century for about 3 decades. you can climb the same chair with car, although the parking is small. the walk from the lower parking area extends for more than 3 km to the chair. There is also a bar that opens only in the afternoons.
The owner was very sweet and personable. The food was delicious and affordable. The Spanish omelette (and frankly every dish that involved eggs) was fantastic.
Tan Ricamente is a very lovely and cozy restaurant. Perfect for having lunch when you are tired of walking through the wonderful town of El Escorial. The waitress lady is super nice, very friendly and keeps feeding you a lot (which means: running out of bread is impossible). They have a menu in English, but the best is to order in Spanish. The food is very delicious and it's totally worth it if you want to taste something local.
Very attentive service, real down-home Spanish cooking, traditional dishes well performed, fair prices. Patatas revolconas is a must, you should try. Mash potatoes with olive oil and Spanish paprika with some crunchy porkbelly. Servicio muy atento, platos tradicionales bien elaborados. Las patatas revolconas son las mejores q he probado, con el chicharron adobado. Deliciosas! Tarta de queso horneada tradicional tambien riquísima. Precios muy razonables.
