Matsuei Miraflores

Very nice modern restaurant, beautiful design. The staff is friendly, but not very attentive. The sushi are still excellent, even sashimi. Very good quality of fish, very tasteful. The Agedashi Tofu didn't convince me. Another very good option for Sushi in Lima, I recommend it.

It was my last day in Lima and in South America in general. It couldn't have been better than Matsuei! The atmosphere feels great, modern at the top, but still very comfortable and casual. I sat at the counter and had the pleasure of meeting Manuel the restaurant's sushi chef. He put together his favorite selection of nitriles after the other and took his time to explain them to me. Each of them was excellent. Fue un placer, Manuel. Muchas Gracias

Japanese Peruvian experience. Totally pleasing. Our waiter Nicolas was very jovial and helpful. He had great recommendations. We have enjoyed a number of Nikei options and Maki roles with wonderful sauces. We also liked the soup, rice options with grilled eggplant. We have spring roll dessert in chocolate and banana. Icecream was delicious with vanilla, almond. It's definitely expensive. The service is good. Just remember to ask for change when you pay in cash when you are looking for money back. Our waiter also brought us a taxi back to the hotel that was helpful!

I have been going recurrently to this restaurant for the last 3 years since they opened. Absolutely love the food, service and experience. The restaurant was started by Nobu over 40 years ago, but frankly I find it even better and cheaper than the Nobu’s I got to visit before. If you like Japanese food, this is a must when you visit Lima.

The restaurant messes around way too much with the fish. Everything tasted the same, bland and/or creamy and not of the fish itself. The soy sauce didn’t even taste of anything. We tried the totoro sashimi (tuna belly) and it was flavourless; no melt in the mouth fat like it should have. It tasted like it had been frozen for a while. The uni (sea urchin) ceviché was good, but mostly because the uni was good; not sure it needed everything else they piled on top of it. Ordered a selection of sashimi and received a very different selection; however, we were charged for what we received. Ordered drinks that never came (in fairness, we weren’t charged for them). Very expensive. Wouldn’t recommend or return.
