Basanti - San Juan Capistrano

Everything is cooked to order, and I love that I can enjoy a meal alongside the locals. The staff is genuinely authentic and they can handle the same, if not more spice than I can — which is impressive considering I'm just a white girl from the Midwest! They also accommodate those who prefer no spice, like my twin grandkids, who absolutely love the buttered naan and tandoori chicken. The owner, a first-generation immigrant (I believe), is the nicest and humblest person. He recognized me at another San Juan restaurant once and even bought me a glass of wine! His passion for delivering a delightful dining experience truly shines through. Some of my favorites include the buttered naan, roasted beet salad, lentil soup, and chicken korma (extra spicy, please!). The world is a vast place, so get out there — or at least cross the train tracks or even stay home and order Uber Eats — and enjoy the pleasures of great food and wonderful company! We just had lunch here for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the mixed chicken tandoori, roasted eggplant, and, of course, garlic naan. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The service was also great; our waiter was polite and attentive. Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars.
