The staff was incredibly friendly, especially our waitress Yara who helped us choose our dishes and shared family recipes with us. We loved the Gorgonzola and Mozzarella pot with mushrooms and toasted bread. The homemade empanadas were good but could have used more seasoning. Our main courses, the Red Thai Curry with chicken and coconut milk, and the perfectly cooked Outside Skirt steak with veggies and mashed potatoes, were phenomenal. The cocktails, prepared by a skilled Mixologist with fresh fruit and infusions, were also excellent. I highly recommend this place, but make sure to reserve an indoor table by the window as the open terrace always has a long wait list. You won't be disappointed!
All the pictures are great, the menu sounds amazing, we were very much looking forward to having dinner here after the symphony at National Theatre de Costa Rica... I ordered a special gin and tonic that never arrived. The waiter was nice enough but not at all attentive.. dropped at the table a bottle of sparkling water and glasses but didn't pour it. The food was beyond sub par. Our appetizers arrived the same time as the main dishes, everything was dry and overcooked, it was very obvious things were cooked in batches and not made fresh at all. My yellow tail tuna tasted like canned tuna and was so overcooked there wasn't an inkling of pink in sight. Maybe the drinks arer worthwhile as the ambiance is nice. I was very excited and upon entering thought when I return next year to Costa Rica for another three weeks I would stay here... NOPE! Keeping to the east side and the much much better restaurants!
Azotea 7 is at the Hotel Presidente . Excellent restaurant and recommend the steak. Good vegetation options. Great service and the ambiance is wonderful. Great views from the roof patio.
I visited the Azotea with my wife for a chill afternoon time... The place is quite nice, especially considering that is in the heart of San Jose which is not known to be a clean beautiful city. So this is somehow an oasis in the heart of SJ. We were during the non-rainy season so we were able to enjoy a couple of drinks (Gintonic recommended by the waitress, Aperol and a beer) along with the fried potato chips that were delightfully seasoned... It was all nice. Price is a a bit high but somehow in the average for these drinks and the glasses were big .. Around $12 for the Gintonic so you have an idea. It was chill, soft music and good service in general. If you are not a guest at the hotel, the best is to submit a reservation over Instagram or so... They can accommodate groups of 15- 20 people under the reservations but not bigger than that. It's small but nice, I would recommend it as a chill option, ahh.. and the hotel seems nice, the reception and surroundings (inside) are beautiful.
The restaurant offers a peaceful outdoor rooftop patio where customers can watch the sunset while enjoying tapas and drinks, or a more lively atmosphere inside the bar. Our group visited two nights in a row because we loved it so much, and everything we tried was delicious. The chicken soup with rice was especially amazing.
