Yummy Buddha scarf but was from many elements on menu and desserts were Bland.
We were excited to visit this restaurant after it had been closed all weekend. We are big fans of supporting vegan establishments, so we were looking forward to trying out their menu. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that only six items on the menu were vegan, which was not a lot. The Dal rice bowl was tasty, and the Buddha bowl (after removing the honey) was good. However, the cabbage rolls were mediocre and the Pommes were just okay. The sushi and dumplings left something to be desired. The dumplings were filled with millet, which seemed odd. The sushi had brown rice that was not seasoned like sushi rice, and the Wasabi was rolled into the sushi. The service was slow, and we had to wait an hour for our food to come out. We sat outside, and the umbrellas did not completely shield us from the hot sun on a 37C day. Despite our excitement to support a vegan establishment in San Ignacio, our overall experience was not great. Additionally, they do not accept VISA but do take PayPal as payment.
The owner Laney is extremely friendly and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend meeting her. The food is fantastic with a variety of kombucha options. They also offer delicious vegan baked goods (the chocolate muffin is a must-try!). All ingredients are of high quality, including the locally sourced vegan white chocolate. Don't forget to try the homemade coconut yogurt. Overall, it's a great place!
I believe Budda Bowl is the only restaurant in the two cities that offers vegan and vegetarian options.
