After sitting down, the cocktail server informed us we couldn't get food at the high tops so she took our order and moved us. She said she would transfer our table but no one came by to greet us. Throughout our entire meal no one checked on us. We never received waters. They asked everyone around us if they were doing well, but avoided our table. The food itself was mediocre at best. I had the fish and chips, which had a nice texture but lacked flavor and my partner had the pulled chicken open sandwich which he said was good but had giant spoon fills of aioli. The only positive experience was the deck view, which overlooked the other islands.
We had a great experience here. Always love somewhere that has table fires and supplies blankets. They've been advertising 25% and more recently 15% discounts if you are seated between 5-6pm. We didn't go during discounted times. It was busy and we had pork belly which was really well cooked but deathly sweet from the fig, plum and apple. The fish and chips are cooked to perfection but let's face it, fish and chips should be perfect at $26 : . The steak was outstanding, perfectly seasoned and cooked with great accompaniments. I've just looked over their Christmas menu which I think looks great but my dining companion wouldn't find appealing.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Came here for a lazy Monday night dinner, and was blown away. Started with a local fruity rose, local oysters. Then a taster of pork belly which melted in the mouth, served with a crisp salad. Then spicy calamari, which had a spicy zing and also so delicate it was hard to tell it was squid at all. Ordered the Persian chicken which was beautifully spiced, tender perfectly cooked. Also the Hapuka special which was served on a delicate risotto. Normally I'm very weary of risottos due to having so many bad glue like ones but this was far from it. Beautifully cooked with a little bite and creamy just as it should be. Hapuka cooked perfectly and with a drizzle of butter sauce. Being very full, yet impressed with our dishes so far we couldn't resist a Tira-mi-su or the ice cream with lemon honey ginger crumble. Service was faultless, even when the crowds followed us in shortly afterwards. Highly recommend, food cooked perfectly service timely friendly.
Yuck! Terrific view with food that can only be summarized as over priced, pretentious and just NOT VERY GOOD. $10.50 for 4 slices of toast with butter?! $10 $17 per glass of cheap wine?! $8 for a bottle of Corona?! A Crayfish Ravoli dish that sounded lovely, a bit DESTROYED when ONLY THREE (3) Ravoli with more herbs than noticeable Crayfish showed up swimming in a lackluster sauce. $36 a mere $12 per shitty Ravoli!!! Sorta wish we had taken a picture to express 1000 words of dismay and disappointment. Back at the hotel having cheese and crackers to get the taste out of our mouths... Recommendation: AVOID, eat elsewhere, walk by on the public footpath and enjoy the view for free.
This place has its location and view going for it, but nothing else. Staff is friendly but not effective or attentive at all. Food is very mediocre the panzanella salad (which is supposed to be a very rich tomato salad with pieces of bread in it) was a green salad with some slices of unripe tomatoes and a way too crispy piece of toast. I've had to go and ask for cutlery to actually eat it with (after I had already gotten up and asked for a menu as well, as nobody cared to bring it). They're really too expensive to pull that off. Go here for a drink and to enjoy the bay view and evening sun, then head somewhere else for dinner.
