Mimosas and other drinks are available as well. The shop itself is quite small, with only eight tables, but it is charmingly decorated with delightful tea-themed touches. The tea is served in a beautiful mismatched tea set, making each table a joy to behold with its array of cups, saucers, and teapots. When I arrived, there were just two other customers, but by the time I left an hour later, there were six of us in total. I overheard my server telling another patron that they had been completely packed the previous day. This lovely spot is conveniently located across from Golden Gate Park, making it easy to stroll around the park to work up an appetite before heading to Sip for a delightful experience!
Parking can be quite challenging, especially on weekends, so make sure to allow yourself some extra time. We ended up at the parking garage within Golden Gate Park, which comes with its own traffic complications, but that's a story for another time. Overall, it makes for a wonderful day to enjoy afternoon tea and visit the museums!
We ended up arriving 30 minutes late, having spent 25 minutes searching for parking and another 15 minutes walking over. Fortunately, the staff were very accommodating and allowed us to stay until closing time, rather than rushing us out after our allotted 1.5 hours. Once we selected our teas—china rose petal and green jasmine—they served us a plate of delicious baked sausage rolls. This was followed by a three-tier tray filled with four sandwiches, a small salad, a traditional scone and a coconut scone paired with lemon curd, clotted cream, and jam, as well as a dessert tray featuring three small treats and fresh fruit. The scones were definitely the highlight! They were light, flaky, and absolutely delightful with the lemon curd and clotted cream. The Hawaiian sandwich was also a pleasant surprise, along with the parfait dessert. Unfortunately, we weren’t fans of the cookie, which was rather dry. As for vegetarian options, they can accommodate a vegetarian afternoon tea if you request it in advance.
The owner rang my door bell and came in hot accusing me of tagging her building. I live close by and she sees me all the time. That put a bad taste in my mouth because I have bought a couple things from there. Could also be a race thing. As a business or building owner how do you not have cameras. She wanted to use a private building’s balcony to repaint the building instead of just getting a ladder. Not very neighborly, and not going to support someone like that.
