But this place just wowed us with their service and fantastic food wonderfully prepared and beautifully plated. All 7 members in our family lived the dishes we had and there was no 1 dish that could be faulted. Definitely will visit if ever back in SF.
The salmon avocado eggs Benedict was the best I’ve eaten in decades. It wasn’t the presentation, which was flawless. The temperature, textures, fresh ingredients and spicing were incredible. The garnish orchid was delicious. The servers they must be telepathic brought everything at the right time, greeted other guests and serving them in a way that had us feeling like we were the only ones there. And this was in spite of the restaurant being broken into the night before and having to clean it all up before opening. If this was a bad morning for the restaurant, a good morning must be unforgettable.Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my Beloved’s food sensitivities and dietary restrictions with no problem.
We decided to visit this restaurant based on Google reviews, but unfortunately, it was a major letdown. I typically don't leave negative reviews, but I believe this place only deserves around 3.5 stars on average. While the dishes looked appealing, they were lacking in flavor and tasted like standard grocery store fare. My ocean benedict was disappointing as the bread was overly soggy, requiring additional salt, pepper, and hot sauce just to have some taste. Even the sourdough that came with the scramble seemed subpar, with better options available at Trader Joe's. The diner drip coffee was also lackluster, even by diner standards. Adding to the disappointment was the mandatory 15% tip, which felt excessive.
I am thrilled that we discovered Jamie's Place! The service was excellent and the food surpassed our expectations. Every aspect was delightful, even down to the sweet and ripe strawberry and orange garnish, which were not just for show. The presentation was gorgeous and the food was incredible. I am already looking forward to returning!
I 'm always torn between sweet and savory for brunch, and my sweet tooth usually wins (despite my guilty conscience).I was worried the marscapone pancakes would be too sweet, but they weren 't! They were so delightful and easy to eat that I had to slow myself down so I could enjoy ?The edges of the pancake were crisp, the pancake itself was light and fluffy (yet still substantial and not just full of air), and sandwiched a layer of soufflé esque egg whites (see my terrible cross sectional photos). The banana was lightly caramelized (I would 've liked them to be more), the walnuts were light and crisp almost like rice puffs, and the vanilla curd was just sweet enough. It also came with maple syrup which I didn 't need. Beautifully presented with an orchid and micro greens (bites with these were weird for me).The couple of folks I interacted with were prompt, attentive, and business like so I would say the service was good, though I asked them about the marscapone flour ingredient in the pancakes and neither of them knew the answer (one flat out didn 't know, the other said she didn 't work w the cooks). That 's fine, but maybe find out so you know for next time, and you can inform your guests? Finally, I ended up asking David, the owner (Jamie is his daughter) the marscapone is mixed in with the flour and other ingredients ?FYI 15% service fee was automatically added to the bill.
