Ideale - San Francisco

We explored numerous Italian restaurants in North Beach, San Francisco, and chose this one for its authentic Roman atmosphere and its peaceful ambiance away from the crowds. The food and warm service exceeded our expectations! The menu is small but thoughtfully curated. Gino was welcoming and recommended the perfect wine for us. The Caesar salad, fresh-baked bread, and both the tortelloni and fettuccine with porcini mushrooms and sausage were outstanding! We will definitely return on our next trip to San Francisco.

I had a wonderful dining experience with excellent food and a friendly staff. We started with the prosciutto wrapped around pear and mascarpone, which was a delightful balance of savory and sweet. The gnocchi was incredibly soft, reminiscent of clouds, and the ragu was simply mouth-watering. My wife ordered the branzino with orange, which was excellent, while I enjoyed the lamb shoulder chop. The chop was wonderfully tender, and the accompanying zucchini and vegetables were flavorful enough to stand out on their own. For dessert, we had a fantastic tiramisu that was rich in espresso without being overwhelming, along with a very flaky millefoglie. Overall, it was a lovely dinner. My only complaint is that I wished the steak knives were a bit sharper; it was harder to cut through the lamb than it should have been. But I will definitely be back!

Incredible food quality and service! Ideale is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in San Francisco. The food is authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious! What sets them apart from many other places is the genuine PASSION that everyone puts into their work.

Authentic and delicious. If you?re in SF and enjoying the sites and sounds of North Beach, and want some great food in a relaxing environment, Ideale needs to be on your list. As a travel agent, I?m constantly seeking to share and recommendexperiences that break from the tourist trap mold and believe Ideale has done exactly that. Lots of regulars at the restaurant when we visited, and I could tell why. The food is absolutely delicious!!! Nice portions and just great, made from scratch food all around. Our lasagna and spaghetti carbonara were delicious!!!
