While the food arrived at a reasonable pace, placing another drink order was challenging since most patrons were seated in a different area assigned to our server. We started with the mac and cheese, which was really delicious. I ordered the fried chicken, and my partner chose the brisket. The mac and cheese was excellent, as was my chicken! However, we both have a strong suspicion that what we received as brisket was actually short ribs. The texture didn’t resemble smoked or BBQ brisket at all. While the entrée was tasty, it was just not what we expected, and serving it with polenta felt a bit odd for brisket. The drink menu was decent, but nothing particularly innovative.
As for the service, it wasn't exceptional, but I appreciated their effort to accommodate one of our guests with multiple food allergies. The food presentation was impressive. My partner ordered the Kickin' Fried Chicken sandwich, and I couldn't help but envy her choice; it looked large and delicious. Our group also shared a couple of pizzas—one topped with real mozzarella slices (not shredded) and another that featured fennel sausage. A few of us, including myself, opted for burgers. Overall, everyone seemed satisfied with their meals, but my experience was different. My cheeseburger (with bacon) was cooked perfectly and burst with juices with every bite. However, it was completely lacking in flavor. The patty was bland, and even the bacon, though crispy, had no hint of saltiness. While the texture of the food was impressive, I found the overall flavor disappointing. It felt as if the restaurant is run by some sort of purist, as there were no condiments on the tables—no salt, pepper, or ketchup (only a single serving cup for fries, if you ordered them) or mustard to be found. At the time, I was mostly focused on managing the kids, so I didn’t think to ask the waiter if they had any condiments available. When we settled the bill, which totaled around $220 including tip, it felt fair but seemed like we were paying more for the location and atmosphere than for the food itself. I don’t think I’ll return, but it was worth trying.
Our group of six visited the restaurant on July 4th before the fireworks, and it was understandably busy! Fortunately, we were seated quickly, and despite the crowd, the service was efficient. We started with truffle fries, Brussels sprouts, and calamari as appetizers. While the prices were on the high side for the smaller portions, the flavors were quite good. However, I wasn't particularly impressed with the Brussels sprouts as they weren't as crispy or tasty as I had hoped. I ordered the bouillabaisse because I’m a seafood lover! It was pricey, but I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion and the substantial amount of seafood in the broth. The dipping bread was wonderfully savory as well. I definitely felt full by the end of the meal. My friends ordered different dishes and drinks, and I’ve included pictures of our choices.
Fog City is a good spot close to Alcatrez Pier had a nice early dinner good atmosphere service and food was above average. Overall would I come back? Yes nice little restaurant in SF.
This iconic diner in The City is back strong under new management. Went with a business friend for brunch, and we found street parking across the street. We were seated right away, and ordered hazy IPAs (it was a warm day while we perused the menu. He ordered a burger and fries, I opted for the fish tacos. Food arrived quickly, and we inhaled it as it was so good! For dessert, we split a key lime pie, which was tangy and delicious (with graham cracker crust! and paired superbly with our cappuccinos! Will be back!
