Fish N Gari - San Francisco

I was charged for a spider roll but received a tempura roll instead. The restaurant is only open for 4 hours a day, and the delivery driver is only there for 3 of those hours. Based on these limited hours of operation, I predict that the restaurant may only last another year or two before becoming another statistic of poor prioritizing and money management in San Francisco. The police have mentioned that once the APEC conference finishes, the downtown area will revert back to its previous state of disrepair. It seems that the area has only been temporarily cleaned up to deceive tourists.

This restaurant is delicious! I ordered Mongolian beef, rice, and miso soup and it was all absolutely delicious. Thank you Fish N Gari.

Amazing service! Came in with a large group on short notice and they really made an effort to accommodate us. The fish was fresh and the prices were great! The food came our fast and our server was so sweet. Definitely our new sushi spot and a great neighborhood staple!

Fantastic experience there last night. We showed up with 20 people without reservation and luckily they had place for us. They set up one long table for all of us, and started bringing beers and sake without us asking, then kept bringing more all night long, taking good care of us. Then they started to bring delicious sushis and rolls. In the end we paid $50 per person, which I found quite reasonable given how many drinks we had, and above all how much fun. The owners were very kind and accommodating.

This restaurant is exactly what you want when it comes to sushi. It offers fresh fish, perfect rice, and no unnecessary frills or fanciness. In my opinion, it is the best sushi I have had outside of Japan. The food is simple yet incredibly flavorful, served by a friendly older gentleman and his wife, with their grandson doing his homework at the counter. This restaurant may not be fancy, but it doesn't try to be anything it's not – it simply serves delicious sushi. Despite being located on the other side of the city, I have already returned multiple times and can't seem to get enough.
