Colombini Italian Cafe Bistro Nob Hill

The service was exceptional; the owner personally took our orders and made us feel welcome. We started with a delicious grilled romaine salad, followed by firm polenta served with a sausage ragu—though my husband insists it was actually a bolognese. For our main courses, we all chose pasta. The spaghetti carbonara was the highlight for me, but the bolognese and my mild gorgonzola with mushrooms were also excellent and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were just right. We enjoyed a nice Chianti DOCG at a reasonable price, and the owner recommended a delightful aperitif. For dessert, we opted for the house-made Key Lime pie since they were out of tiramisu; while it's a bit unconventional for an Italian restaurant, it was absolutely lovely. The ambiance of the place is fantastic, with a small wooden bar, intimate tables, and lovely lighting. This would be an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or an anniversary celebration.

This is a very small restaurant with only six tables. We had made a reservation and were the only diners present. The owner and chef turned away two groups of customers, claiming they were full, which felt a bit odd. Another couple arrived around 8:00 PM. The menu offered was different from what was listed on the website and quite limited. The pasta was not homemade. The service was slow, which could be excused if the food was exceptional, but unfortunately, it was only mediocre. Additionally, there was a limited selection of beer and wine. Overall, it was quite disappointing and not inexpensive. I wouldn't recommend returning.

Super small place but amazing food. The bolognese was really good and so was the meatballs. They have a pretty cheap corkage fee $18) but their wine was alright. There is only two people running the place including in the kitchen so service can be slow but worth it. Highly recommend a reservation.Food: 5/5

Fantastic Italian and the Owner is awesome. This was close to our hotel and we really lucked out. Food was amazing and the wine was perfect. The atmosphere was quaint and the music made it better. This place checked all the boxes.
