Back ribs and green beans were ok, quite salty, the portion of meat+veggie was about 1/3 box, and white rice was soft. It was not outstanding but good enough at that price for me to want to go back to try other dishes chicken wings, mu shu pork
I heard about Capital from friends and everyone says there chicken wings are good. I only ordered the chicken wings to go and they came out in reasonable time. One order comes with 12 good sized wings but they just had way too much salt on them. They were really crispy though. Not sure if would return for them, kinda pricey at $14.xx The restaurant is spacious and clean. Street parking only
I was in Chinatown looking for a lunch stop and surprisingly everything I looked at had pretty bad reviews. Capital was an exception and had an interesting menu so I decided to try it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good option. I got good signals once I walked in as it was not packed but every table was taken, I was given a seat at the bar. I started with a half order of the spicy salt and pepper wings and they were very good, they seem to be a house specialty and I good see why. I also enjoyed very much the pork chop hot pot. The pork was tender and very tasty along with a lot of perfectly cooked eggplant. All in all an excellent and authentic meal.
Capital Restaurant has been in San Francisco Chinatown for as long as I can remember and is a go to spot amongst locals and tourists. They have a decent amount of tables inside for both small and large groups as well as a few counter seats. They serve a variety of dishes with options for sharing with others and also combo plates that come with one item with rice. I've come here on multiple occasions with both large and small groups and have never been disappointed here. Their rice plates are perfectly portioned for a nice lunch with some potential extra space for an appetizer to share. Their noodle, fried rice, and entrees and all well made as well with a simple sort of Chinese comfort food preparation to them. Their most famous dish that a lot of people order is their fried chicken wings. This is their signature dish for sure and is quite simple yet very delicious. It has a light crispy coating seasoned with salt, garlic, and jalapenos. The chicken meat itself is very tender and hot, making it the perfect appetizer to share with others.
A nice Cantonese styled restaurant, this restaurant is a bit tucked away but a nice find! They speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, so it is pretty easily accessible even though the majority of the patrons when we went for dinner were Chinese. We went on a Thursday at around 7pm and the restaurant wasn't super crowded, maybe four other parties at the tables and then at the bar, there were three individual people eating. I got seated and was served hot tea while waiting for my party. Honestly, a pretty good Chinese restaurant, I would definitely come again and try more of their dishes. Fukien Style Egg Tofu Seafood (5/5): You can choose between seafood or meat, but I think either would have been just as good. There is so much gravy and the way the tofu is prepared is one of my favorites. There is also mushroom, squid, and some others inside that go really well and are not fishy at all. Salt and Pepper Chicken (3/5): Super fresh, extremely crispy, however the skin was a bit too salty. This was the first thing that our waitress recommended. Lap Chung Fried Rice (3.5/5): Classic fried rice, needed it because we didn't have any starch and just wanted something other than white rice. Sweet and Sour Pork (3.5/5): A classic sweet and sour pork. Not as extremely vinegary as I remember the dish being so it was pretty good.
