First time trying this place.Egg tart tasteless paper like pastry and most likely not baked enough as you can see how white the pastry is. The egg mixture is just as bad . No egg flavor and very watery. Sure the egg tart next to it looks better but that's no excuse when you choose to sell the productBbq pork bun lots of filling, taste good, the bread is ok but the biggest problem is the long piece of inedible tendon that came with it. Only reason I'm giving it a 2 star instead of 1 is because it's my first time trying this place and I'm not sure if there will be a 2nd. Also every business deserve a shot but they should definitely put out some effort when people spend money t
Tl;dr No Banh Mi.On my quest to try all the banh mi in the area I went here to order Banh Mi as Ken C. the owner describes in the About the Business section. I was of course a bit skeptical since it mostly seems like a traditional Chinese bakery. But then again I 've bought Banh Mi from a donut shop so who was I to question the Yelp description. The woman working there said they didn 't make it and suggested I was thinking about the Subway that used to be in that location. Curious. The pastries were fine from the times I went before. But really I was craving some banh mi... so the quest continues.
SIP was the first time I 've come to Boss Bakery. I was here this past week to buy baos for the week. I was here around 2pm and they pretty much sold out of everything but the cashier mentioned a guy who came in right before me and bought 2 boxes of buns so i guess it was just bad timing. Pineapple BBQ pork buns are pretty solid and very full of filling. The egg tart is delicious with a flaky crust. They also do mini hot dog baos and a cheese topped hot dog bao. What I respect about this place is that the other day I used a $100 bill to pay for a $10 order and when the cashier was giving me the change she counted it in front if me so i just started grabbing it when she was done and then she stopped me to have me recount it and make sure it 's the correct change. I was a little shocked because i said i saw her count it and she said there are people and this is popular in Asia that they will count your change so you see it but then swipe bills. That 's nice that she was honest and wanted to make sure I have my actual change.
I always go to this bakery for my sweet tooth needs. Very friendly and good pastries all around. My favorite is the pineapple custard, it is delicious!
