Arsicault Bakery Civic Center

Probably the best croissant I have had in my life. Perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, and incredibly soft on the inside. Also very proud of the bakery for keeping the area alive! Keep it up!

Plain croissant is perfection. Light and crispy exterior, luscious interior. Best I've had outside of Paris. Had to return to get another one on the second day of my short trip to San Francisco.

I desperately adore this bakery, with the best pastries in the city. Especially recommend the raisin kouign amann and morning buns. I sadly have to minus a star because the line moves painfully slow due to them only having one cash register. It’s bizarre to see people piled up, their orders ready and waiting, just because they haven’t gotten to the register. Get another one, please!

If you’re in the Bay Area- you need to make a point to visit this incredible bakery!!!!Best croissants pastries! Wow! And we’ve tried the best in Paris and around the world!We stood our aside starting at 7:45 knowing they opened at 8.We absolutely loved the fresh from the oven hot ham and cheese croissant- flaky layers, buttery taste, melt In the mouth goodness!Almond croissant had a beautiful frangipane flavor inside and the crusted almond croissant was flaky and delish!Kouign-Amman was crispy, caramelized and sweet. If you have a sweet tooth- then this is definitely a pastry for you!Out of the three- the ham and cheese croissant takes the cake! Would go back for a dozen of those!!

Hot take: this location is better than the originalArsicault has the best croissants. I always try to visit at least one location when I'm in the area. I've tried the chocolate croissants from the original and this location and the original is overbearingly sweet. If you do buy the chocolate almond croissant, I suggest splitting it with a friend and get a black coffee to cut the sweetness.The ham and cheese croissants IMO are their best, balanced item. Perfect as a pre-hike snack.They have the flakiest croissants so if you're in a car whose driver is a stickler, I would advise not to eat it in there.
