Piacere Mio Del Sur - San Diego

The food is delicious! We are an Italian family and it is one of the few places in San Diego where you can feel like you are in an Italian restaurant. Good ingredients, simple food like in Italy!

First off, the atmosphere is lovely, and as we entered, we were greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly cooked pasta. For our appetizer, we ordered the Calamari Fritti, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The breading was crispy and light, with just a touch of grease—as you’d expect from frying—but definitely not excessive. It was seasoned perfectly, accompanied by a tasty marinara sauce for dipping. A fantastic start to our meal! For our main course, we both went for the Carbonara: I chose the classic version with spaghetti while my friend opted for a different pasta. Let me tell you about the portion sizes—very generous! I anticipated a smaller serving, so I was pleasantly surprised by how substantial it was. The photo doesn't quite capture its size. Now, how did it taste? People, this dish is a slice of heaven! With every bite, I savored the flavors of egg yolk and Pecorino Romano, blended with the pasta and delicious guanciale cubes. The dish was both creamy and rich, yet clean and rustic—a perfect balance of flavors without any overly processed taste. It exceeded all my expectations for a great Carbonara. I cleaned my plate and left feeling completely satisfied. We didn't have room for dessert this time, but I definitely plan on returning for that in the future. Our total bill came to around $40 each, and it was worth every penny! I’ll be back for sure.

I ordered a pizza, and I got shrimp all over it. I have a Shrimp allergy. The pizza was extra wet, cold, and thrown together like a sloppy mess. After working in culinary in San Francisco, I expected way better from a restaurant with such 'high reviews .

The food here is phenomenal. If I could rate solely based on the food, it would deserve a solid five stars. I?ve tried pastas, pizzas, salad, appetizers, and cocktails here and they never miss. However, I have never had a positive experience here in terms of service. I?ve visited a total of 5 times and always try to give servers the benefit of the doubt (longer kitchen times, busy sections, being short-staffed) but always seem to be met by a lack of attention. I?ve even come in on two separate occasions where my table was the only table in the restaurant, and have still received poor service

Delicious food and a fantastic atmosphere. It's a wonderful place for quality Italian cuisine. The service could use some improvement; it felt a bit understaffed as no one checked on our table after we received our meals, nor did they ask if we wanted dessert or the check. I'm assuming this was a one-time issue and not the usual experience, so I'm still giving it a 5-star rating! I really enjoyed the pizzas (though it would be nice to see more non-pork options), and the pasta with shrimp sauce was excellent with a generous portion.
