I visited this morning, as well as multiple times this week, and I noticed that Julio was not present. Julio was always the most friendly and outgoing employee at this location. I am not sure if he still works here, but it was always a pleasure to see him behind the counter. I give five stars for the food and service.
Lolita's is my favorite taco shop, better than most nationwide. The quality is top-notch, I've been a loyal customer since 1990.
I am not a fan of this place despite its popularity. I have dined here around 10 times in the last 15 years, but there is something about it that just doesn't suit my taste. The thick masa corn they use reminds me of Tex Mex, and the seasoning of the meat is similar. It lacks the authentic taste of Baja/Sonora Mexican cuisine that I prefer. Additionally, the prices are on the higher side compared to other places. While I have never had a negative experience with the staff, I have found them to be unremarkable, mostly just standing around. On a positive note, they do have TVs, but the salsa bar is quite limited. If I have to eat here, I usually go for the adobada, which is tasty.
I visited the restaurant and when I placed my order, I mentioned that I had heard they had the best Carne Asada Fries. The young lady working there laughed and modestly said that the meat was pretty good, but she wasn't sure if it was the best. Let me tell you, it was the best! I ordered the Tsunamiries (Carne Asada and shrimp over guacamole, pickled onions, cotija cheese, and Cheddar cheese) and the taste overwhelmed me. I can only go once in a while because I'm trying to lose weight, but I can't resist coming back for this. It was the best Carne Asada I've ever had!
I ordered the taco roll combo at this restaurant and it was awful in every way. The tacos were small, dry, and made with low-quality ingredients like prepackaged chicken meat and not fresh guacamole. I would recommend going somewhere else, like for pho, instead. I paid $9 for this meal and it was not worth it at all. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
