Freds Lunch Bag Deli - San Diego

While working at WeWork San Diego, I was in search of an affordable local deli and found Fred's through a search. The lunch combo, which included a hot sandwich, chips, and a drink, was priced at around $12. Fred himself was present at the deli and it was clear that he had established a good reputation with the locals, which I found to be very charming. The deli has a bodega-like feel, simple yet beloved by everyone, including myself. I thoroughly enjoyed my hot tuna sandwich, which was a delicious and satisfying meal after a long day of morning meetings. I definitely plan on returning to try other items on the menu in the future. The deli almost feels like a bodega, it's so simple but you can tell everyone loves it and so did I. He was really friendly despite being very busy and flooded with customer. I appreciated that.My hot tuna sandwich was delicious and honestly a great meal after a long day of morning meetings. Good little hole in the wall sandwich shop with a nice variety of sandwiches, salads and drinks. Sandwich came with a free cup of soup. There is no seating so you need to eat your sandwich elsewhere.

Fred's is my go to stop in San Diego. By far my favorite sandwich shop in the area. The super California is amazing. Each lunch sandwich comes with homemade soup, and the soups are so tasty. If you're looking for breakfast or lunch, Fred's is the place to go. Consistent, fresh, filling, great taste, this place checks all the boxes. Not to mention Fred is a great human. Can't say enough about this small business.
