California Fish Grill - San Diego

My son and I love this place it is delicious very good price and the best service. my son loves her clam soup, and fish

I appreciate that they tell you which fish are wild caught versus farmed. I ordered the rock cod Cajun style with rice and a side of asparagus for extra . Fish was cooked well, not overdone and I loved all the extra lemon they give if you ask. However, the Cajun spice was not spicy at all despite having a chili pepper next to it on the menu. Of the three spears of asparagus they gave me, 1/3 of each spear was inedible and should have been cut off before cooking so it wasn’t worth paying extra for.

I've been multiple times, most times it is just underwhelming, however, today was my last try.Fish was not fresh very hard, fries were cold and soggy (around noon) could only really taste the grill fish was black with grill bits as if the grill had not been cleaned in months.10/10 do not recommend.

My card randomly declined and the cashier Rosa gave it to me for free. She helped me knowing that it randomly happens and understood the situation! Someone please tip her for me (Ps. i've never been here before until now and this food is amazing and not super expensive for fish, even though i'm embarrassed i plan to come back)

Love this place! Small restaurant but with a big restaurant menu. The quality portions of the food is exceptional. The staff is friendly and helpful. It has both inside outside seating. I will definitely come back again!!
