My fiancé and I took a day trip to San demetrio and we had the most amazing lunch at the Visconte Kitchen restaurant. We met the two lovely owners and we're absolutely surprised by how brilliant the food and hospitality was. Thier prices aren't crazy and we had a really great experience with the welcoming owners Janie and Leonardo. We will definitely be going back there again in the future!
This was an amazing cooking class one of the highlights of my trip to Italy. This was more than a very hands on cooking class, but an experience that included visiting the garden where most of the ingredients are sourced and a visit to the beautiful waterfall that irrigates the garden. Chef Leonardo and his wife Janey are wonderful hosts who really care about having an authentic experience and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We prepared 3 different pastas, including one with wild boar that Chef Leonardo hunted, a delicious lemon tiramisu and chicken with saffron from their garden. Chef Leonardo was patient and also focused on making sure I used the right techniques in preparing pasta I definitely feel ready to prepare these dishes when I’m home. My only regret is that I did not have time for their multi day classes but I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this incredibly special and delicious experience.
Superbly cooked Italian food cooked with local freshly sourced ingredients and home made pasta. Buonissima! Well worth a trip to this lovely restaurant run by Leonardo and Jaynie. We can highly recommend!
For anyone who wants to learn how to cook authentic Italian cuisine from an expert chef in a small hilltop town in Abruzzo, we whole-heartedly recommend a week at Viscanti Kitchen. The itinerary for each day was a perfect balance between time in the kitchen and extra curricular activities. There were many highlights, including: cooking techniques and ingredients for making tasty Italian cuisine along with 37 secret tips for success, visits to the cheese factory and medieval towns, wine and olive oil tastings, truffle hunting, seeing gardens and learning about the source of each ingredient and how it is used to make a special dish. This itinerary was perfect. But an even more important component was the warmth and hospitality provided by Jaynie and Leonardo. That extended from the love that they bestowed on generating any dish to the interactions they had with local farmers, vinters, and artisans. This was a unique trip for us and we give it our highest possible rating.
