To my surprise, the dining area was almost empty, with just one other customer present. We didn’t see any staff around, so we chose to sit at the bar. After several minutes without any sign of service, one employee eventually walked behind the bar, engrossed in his phone, and simply walked past us without acknowledging our presence. We waited patiently, assuming they might not have officially opened yet, but as time passed, the other patron also approached the bar looking for service. We had been at the bar for about five minutes without seeing a single staff member, so we decided to leave. As we exited, we passed by the office and noticed at least five employees chatting and hanging out inside. This was by far the worst first impression I have ever had at a bar and grill. I can’t comment on the food or drinks since we never ended up ordering anything. Based on this experience with their customer service, I won’t be returning.
This restaurant is one of my favorite spots in San Antonio! First off, the management and staff are exceptionally kind and professional, always going the extra mile to ensure a top-notch experience for all guests. Luis, in particular, assisted me with a volleyball reservation and was both efficient and thoughtful. The volleyball community at Sideliners is a fantastic group, and it's always a great time there. If you're looking to create joyful memories filled with laughter, good drinks, and volleyball, Sideliners is the place to be! And if volleyball isn't your thing, they also host karaoke nights and other events, so be sure to check out their social media for more information.
The atmosphere is always friendly and lively at this restaurant. The game options are enjoyable, and the courts are typically well-maintained and available for use. If you're planning to bring a large group during volleyball season, it's a good idea to call ahead, as there may only be a limited number of courts available. However, the staff is very friendly and communicates any limitations effectively. It's an excellent place for teenagers, and there are areas for younger kids to hang out and play in the sand—yes, they have sand courts! At the end of your visit, there's a convenient area to rinse off the sand, which is a thoughtful touch. They also feature two outdoor bars, and their food menu has expanded significantly over the past couple of years, offering a variety of great options that are quite accommodating.
First time here it was amazing to see how many courts for volleyball.
This place is dead! It needs a total makeover. On a Saturday afternoon, there were few people inside. Most everyone was at the other little building by the volleyball sand pit. In the main building, there's too much unused space, very little air conditioning, and s-l-o-w service. There is plenty of parking. Wow, unused and wasted opportunity.
