The portion size and meat quality were not up to par. The food was edible, but it definitely did not meet their usual standards.
The tamales at this restaurant are tender and delicious, reminiscent of the ones you would wake up to and enjoy in Mexico. Oh yeah, baby!
The restaurant is decent, close by, and comfortable. However, we tried to order curbside but were told they do not offer that service. Since the pandemic, we have been ordering takeout from there, but today we encountered a lazy young man who refused to help us. He claimed they do not offer curbside service, which is not true. I had to find someone to pick up our order, and when we finally got the food, we found that it was very fatty with lots of gristle. The meat had about an inch of fat on it, which we had to trim off. Additionally, the meal was expensive, especially since we ordered two pounds to share. We will not be returning to this restaurant and will instead try Papi or Alamo, as we have heard they are quite good.
Rios barbacoa used to be the best in town, lately it hasn't been as good, not as flavorful, they also raised the prices through the roof, I have to take out a couple of loans to payoff the 1/2 lb of bbq I purchased-seems like they bought cheaper barbacoa but still raised the price, bad business practices- won't be coming back!
This used to be our GO TO barbacoa spot. They used to have almost all beef in the servings with very little of any fat. Lately, that’s not the case. The barbecue even tastes a little different. Maybe they changed vendors? Anyway, this will be our last visit having gone at least 5 times this past year with the same results. We just want the old Rios back!
