Fred's Fish Fry - San Antonio

I had a very frustrating experience at this restaurant today. I just wanted to do a simple split transaction, using my pocket money and card for the remaining balance. However, the two employees working at the time were unable to process this request, even though there was no line or other customers inside. I hope the owner, Alfred, sees this and addresses the issue with both the employees' poor attitudes and the POS system. I have been a loyal customer for a long time, but this was by far the worst experience I have had. To make matters worse, the employees made snide comments when I had to cancel my order due to their inability to handle a simple transaction. I was spending $20, not just a small amount. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. This happened just 10 minutes ago.

Great little hole in the wall type fish place. They've been serving up the square fish since I was a kid with tasty tarter sauce and 3 squares and fries, bread and lemon wedge. Always served hot, which in my opinion, if you're going to use ketchup put it on when you get your order so the ketchup melts into the fish and add a dash or 2 of Tabasco, Cholula or my favorite, Louisiana hot sauce. Put it on a slice of the soft, warm bread slice and bam! You have a treat that may not wait until you get to the house! They also serve up a chicken burger on a bun that comes with tartar sauce and pickle and the price is under $2 so grab a few, I promise you won't regret it. They also sell shrimp, fried oysters and onion rings. No frills but affordable to feed the family and they sell family orders and they have fountain big red, Friday's are for fish and fries with big red! Takes me back to my childhood days and our Friday meal.

Ok years ago Fred's fish was the best. I bought a 9pc.family order and was disappointed. Maybe it was me but the fish seemed to need more frying or that's how long its been that I bought it and it just tastes that way. .other issue the fries that came in that order very small. I seriously split the fries 3 ways and we each got like 7 fries. Plus all that fish and only 3 ketchup packs.SMH when I got home. $23.00. Not worth the price. Sticking with JAnthonys!

Line was short,just two cars in front of me and sat there for 30 mins before I drove away with no food and them two cars still there waiting in the drive thru line!!!
