Was visiting San Antonio, Texas and happened upon Acenar. Everything was about to close for the night and we wanted Mexican food. They were getting ready to close but seated our party anyway. They could tell how hungry we were!?! As I scanned the menu, all the traditional dishes were there but I wanted something different. I settled in the seafood tacos and was pleasantly surprised. The tacos were unbelievable but they made the beans taste delicious as well. The beans!!!! If you like this review, like and share this review. Thanks and have a great day!
Good food and nice ambiance with outdoor seating right on the river. Many gluten free options marked on the menu though server informed us that the fryer for chips is shared with items that are not gluten free.
I ordered the fish tacos that were good. The jalapeño honey jam had a kick. Fiery and sweet. I don?t like hot so it was too hot for me. But it came on the side so I didn?t put it in the other two tacos. Which was thoughtful. The rice was cooked just right with a hint of butter. There?s a good bar list. I would suggest reservations Friday through Sunday, especially if the weather is nice. I gave it three stars because I felt it was just average. Average service just trying to survive a busy night. No fault of the staff, just the way it is. Nothing really stood out to me as amazing. I would come back again because there was also nothing bad.
Best Mexican-inspired food that we had in the 5 days that we were in the San Antonio Riverwalk area in our opinion. We chose to sit inside because of the afternoon sun, instead of by the river. The restaurant had a fun atmosphere inside. Our server was Roberto, and he was attentive and were pleased with the service. The oyster tacos and blue crab tacos were delicious. The guacamole was made at table side, but this seemed to be a common service in the restaurants along Riverwalk.
