Honestly, we were so full the last thing on our mind was dessert. But Sergio was so wonderful, we decided to makeroom for the caramel churros con chocolate (no regrets). Good music, classy ambiance, great service and fare. If you?relooking for a place to snack on tapas or go all in on the paella, this is the place to avoid the crowds of Union Square whileenjoying each other?s company! P.S. If you have left over garlic oil from gambas appetizer, save it and poor it on the paella!
This restaurant seems to cater primarily to guests staying at the Warwick hotel, with no apparent motivation to provide good value. Guests are given a small glass of wine each evening, which only allows for a few sips. The tapas portions are also small, with only four medium-sized garlic shrimps priced at $18. The overall ambiance and food do not justify the high prices. Additionally, the service from our waiter was subpar. I would not recommend Bota or dining at the Warwick to others based on this experience. I do not plan on returning.
Heirloom tomatoes and fried potatoes were delicious. Meatball wasn't flavorful without a spoonful of the sauce. Meat paella was a good dish to share, but the oxtail wasn't what we expected my husband said it was nasty. The service was okay probablyshort staffed.
I did not enjoy the burned bacon wrapped dates and thought the garlic shrimp was mediocre. The food was brought out by a kitchen assistant and the waitress never checked in to see how everything was. I had to track her down to get the check after finishing my meal.
When you come across a hotel that truly pays attention to their lobby bar and restaurants, it's a special find. Often, hotels focus mainly on their rooms and parking, neglecting the dining experience. But as a traveler, sometimes you just want to relax and enjoy a delicious meal and a drink without having to venture far. The Warwick Hotel in San Francisco has created just that with BOTA. The dining experience is upscale yet approachable, with a cozy and spacious atmosphere that doesn't feel cramped. The decor is inviting and adds to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. The artwork on the walls serves as a great conversation starter. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful seared shishito peppers and perfectly cooked squid. This dining experience was a highlight of my San Francisco holiday, and I highly recommend it.
