Fantastic food. Relaxing environment. Can't get more value for your dollar. Especially with the lunch specials. Definitely planning to go back.

'Do you see the light????! '-famous line from the blues brothers kept playing in my head as I ate here. I liked another reviewers comments that if soul food was religion than Bonnie jean 's is a church!Looking forward to going back- was out of a few items I ordered (good sign) but enjoyed what I had. The fried chicken (southern fried style, there are a few different cooking choices) was crispy, hot (temperature) and the 3rd piece was still as hot on the inside as the first piece I had which tells me their oil temperature was perfect. Hush puppies were excellent and flavorful and one of the best fried okra sides I 've had! After speaking with the staff, looks like their kitchen influence Gail 's from Texas (Fort Worth) not far from my Dallas soul food favorite restaurant. If you are a soul food newbie don 't be surprised by the decor, if soul food is your thing then welcome home!4 out of 5 stars

Best Home Cooked Soul Food. Every super delicious hole in the wall doesn't look like much from the outside but when the food arrives, no longer how long you have to wait, it is always better then you could have imagined. That's Bonnie Jean's.<br/ <br/ The inside has a very comfortable, home like feel. There is lots of art on the walls and a couple TV's. You can tell this is a very popular neighborhood joint by the vibe and friendly service.<br/ <br/ We ordered the chicken and waffles SUPER delicious! It came with 2 pieces of fried chicken and a waffle with melted butter syrup. I asked for a side of gravy which made the chicken/waffle combo even better then I thought. Personally, the waffle could have been a bit more crispy, but non the less, still very good.<br/ <br/ The food took a while but we didn't mind. You can't complain about food taking long when it's cooked to order. Good, fresh food takes time and love. It was worth the wait. Trust me.<br/ <br/ If you're looking for some seriously good soul food, this is your joint. Everyone that worked there was friendly and happy. I'd go back there in a heart beat.

Jake and I have passed by Bonnie Jean's Soul Food Cafe so many times but were never able to make it in; it was either closed or we were on our where to another place. A week or so ago we finally dropped in to the restaurant when they were still open, only

We had a 5pm reservation but due to traffic we were 15 minutes. The food was great. Huge portions. Keya was an excellent server. The drinks were great. The only thing was they were out of some of appetizers but they made up with it other options. Thank you. We'll be back.
