In any case, measures had been taken for my celiac disease. When I contacted the owners, they sent me a link with all gluten-free options and also mention that their cook was celiac. Excellent customer service of owners and employees on the ground. I had the Mahimahi with sweet regular potatoes, mixed vegetables, peeled seafood and bread.
My husband and I stopped at this attractive open air restaurant on a recent trip to Costa Rica. It was a Friday night and “happy hour” was in full swing on the beautiful sandy beach. We happily ordered bogo margaritas but when we asked for a table we were told the wait would be around an hour; when we explained that it was last night of this trip they offered us a table at the inside portion of the restaurant. They were accommodating in every way possible, even on a busy night! A positive review for gluten free dining is what led us here; I have celiac and am a fussy pescatarian; my husband enjoys everything. We ordered some delicious garlic bread for a nibble with our next round of margaritas; the menu was extensive and the gluten free options were many and clearly labeled. I was considering the pasta with “fruta de mar” seafood but I don’t eat many of the ingredients. The chef agreed to make pasta with just shrimp for me and it was fantastic: two different sizes of fresh shrimp in a garlic herb sauce with very flavorful small tomatoes. My husband ordered fish that was served with two delicious vegetable side. The portions were so big that it was a challenge to finish. While my husband was paying the bill and it was very reasonable, I noticed a little little gift shop; I was told that all the work was hand crafted by one of three remaining indigenous tribes in Costa Rica. The Hotel Bahia uses the beautifully hand woven mats on their tables and provides a financial outlet for the artists. It turns out the woman I was talking to was the owner; I told her how much we enjoyed our meal and mentioned the gluten free reviews. She mentioned that her chef also had celiac and introduced me to her. I was glad for the opportunity to thank her for the special dinner she made for me.
The food here is amazing. So good we’ve eaten here 4 times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For those with celiac like my wife, pretty much everything on the menu can be made gluten free “sin gluten.” Service is a bit slow, but honestly, it’s that way it is everywhere we’ve been in Costa Rica! The amazing ambience, views of the beach, the sounds of crashing waves, and delicious food makes this place a must see/try!
This place is so nice . We really like it. There are A lot of gluten free options! If you are in this Area you have to go there!
