A small local snack bar with the best value empanadas in Salta - we also tried another local speciality there - humita.

Although opposite the San Francisco church this tiny restaurant attracts mainly locals. They serve only a handful of items, primarily empanadas, humitas and tamales along with huge and icy bottles of Salta beer. Everything is cooked from scratch is really tasty and costs hardly anything.

The empanadas are delicious at this small bar right next to the San Francisco church. Have a refreshing Salta beer, the glass comes out of the freezer! Owner and place are old fashioned. Worth a visit. If you go around sunset you can watch the lighting of San Francisco being turned on from one of the two small tables at the window.

Went for a small lunch, ordered 5 Empenadas with a friendly lady helping us bridging our gaps in Spanish rather than speak as they do when speaking to a friend, ended up ordering 2 more times and 13 Empenadas (Carne & Jamon y Queso). Wow!
