What could be improved? The service was somewhat inconsistent. The staff were friendly and well-meaning, but could benefit from a bit more experience and training—perhaps some role-playing exercises would help? If the restaurant had been extremely busy, our experience might not have been as pleasant. Luckily, it was only moderately crowded.
This is not true Cajun food. When we asked for tobasco to add to our gumbo, the waiter said they didn't have tobasco but there was some other kind of hot sauce. What Cajun restaurant doesn't have tobacco sauce? The catfish and mac'n'cheese was flavorless. And the breading on the catfish was soggy. We got the alligators nachos as well and they were medicore. The salsa that came with it had no flavor whatsoever. It wasn't sweet, savory, or spicy at all. The beignets were not true Louisiana beignets. Instead they were tiny, a little crunchy on the outside and almost hollow on the inside, and it seemed like maybe they were baked instead of fried. The only saving grace was the red beans and rice appetizer. That actually had some flavor. Most of all the food was overpriced for what you get. The service was fine but nothing special. We do not recommend Neutral Ground. Perhaps we chould have lowered our expectations. Afterall this is Utah and not the deep South.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t have a dining experience because the restaurant was closed. I'm not sure why it was still showing as available for reservations.
Excellent blend of authentic Creole dishes and Fusion mashups. Red Beans Cajun Pasta are Classic favorites. Their take on Pork Loin and Surf Turf is phenomenal.
