The menu presented to us at the table bore no resemblance to the one posted outside. But we did...enjoy our meal which was nicely presented.
We loved the ambiance, and I would like to give the food 3.5 stars, if possible. Better than average , but not very good ! We were there with family group of 10, including 4 children, and the outdoor seating was perfect for us. The waitress, serving...the whole outdoors all by herself, did as good a job as could be possible! They had a child 's menu, and the hamburger and frites worked very well for our 4. Good desserts!
The chateau has had changes in management over the years. I have eaten there a few times before with varying experience. The current management are by far the best. I had the Thursday evening seafood buffet.
It was a dark and stormy night when the 3 of us went here on the last Thursday in November. In fact, if we hadn't booked the weekend before we wouldn't have gone out anywhere that night, but Thursday is the night this restaurant has the fish buffet which had been recommended to us by a friend. We were the first people to arrive, just before 8pm and hoped we would not be the only people brave enough to go out that night, because inside the building it is pleasantly palatial, with lovely simple decor, barrel arched roofs and a piano in one corner. The man that met us was a very cheerful chap with a welcoming, relaxed style. He told us the buffet of hot and cold seafood would soon be available and helped us to select a local Legende de Famille dry white wine from Maison Bort from nearby St Christol. Fortunately, several other people started to arrive because the food from the buffet was by then ready for us to try. There were cold oysters and hot huîtres gratinée, fresh prawns and grilled gambas, delicious calamar a la plancha and deep fried squid rings, warm shark steaks, whitebait, lots of other shellfish, salt cod balls, potato salad with fish in it, aioli and lots of other things I've eaten but have now forgotten (and I'm quite pleased I remembered that lot and apologise for the mixed languages used). All of the above was prepared and cooked to perfection and we went back with our plates quite a few times to confirm our favourites. Even after all that seafood, we couldn't let the neighbour who came with us eat her desert on her own, so we all shared a couple of their excellent, but even more filling café gourmand. By now, like the oysters we had just eaten, we were all well stuffed so we paid up, thanked the fellow who had looked after us and departed - back into the dark and stormy night. PS. We had wanted to go to this restaurant in the summer and sit in the court yard, but we never got round to it, but the photos on TA look lovely so we'll probably go back in the spring next year.
We were 30 friends for lunch there. The service was very good and the kitchen was well prepared to serve us without delay. The starters were very good, the beef delicious, but the veal was a disappointment. Desserts were fine. The portions were very generous.
