They had 2 bar size pool tables for $2.00 a game, but only 4 pool sticks available. There was also 1 Foosball table. We ordered the sampler, but they were out of potato skins and asparagus fries. We substituted mushrooms and extra onion rings, but the rings were cut thin and not fried long enough, so they weren't very crispy and were a bit oily. The portion of 3 tiny chicken wings for $15.99 was not adequate in my opinion. The batter on their fried items was too thin and needs improvement. The restaurant was warm, despite having some floor fans on. The beer was cold.
Will not go back. This must be the most inconsistent place I have ever been to. One visit you get great service with great food the next day you get **** service (serving excuses rather than apologies or solutions) and food which I wouldn't serve to anyone (note: if it doesn't look good it doesn't taste good). I would frequent SSP with my family; it was a nice place for food and sports. If i was the owner, i would fire the entire staff and employ folks who WANT to work. TWICE we were left without drinks for over 30 minutes; in this time we could have ordered 2 drinks each at my table of 4! How does this happen? We were one of 4 tables with people at them? No excuses! They didn't even have to work for us, just bring drinks! SSP, i'm sick of making excuses for you and I am sorry (you should be sorry, not me) I WILL NEVER GO TO SEE YOU AGAIN.
The service was excellent, but to be honest, Destiny, the food was not very good. The selection of draft beer was great and the location is a bit hidden. Overall, I enjoyed my experience.
I decided to accompany my wife to this restaurant, as she enjoys karaoke here and I was craving some wings. The atmosphere is modern and the staff is friendly, efficient, and welcoming. However, the food was a bit disappointing. We ordered the peanut butter and jelly wings, which were covered in a peanut sauce that lacked flavor and were sprinkled with diced jalapeño jelly, resulting in a bland taste. The Ruben sandwich we shared was a heavy, salty mess with dry rye bread, chopped corned beef mixed with cabbage, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. Overall, the food was forgettable and disappointing. If you're looking for a place to have a few drinks and some basic wings, then this might be a good spot to visit. Just don't expect much from the food.
Been coming here since the glory days of the Penny, and while a few things changed for the better, some haven 't exactly upped the appeal. In short, the Tavern is hit or miss. I 've had really great experiences here, and some not so spectacular. Pricing is pretty good, particularly for beer, in comparison to other bars in the area. My experience with their food has been moderate nothing special, but not terrible either. The service leaves quite a bit to be desired, as a few here have pointed out. They 're not always on it and it can get a bit messy on busy Friday Saturday nights, when the crowd gets rougher. On a positive note, however, it is a pretty decent place to catch a game, and the setup of monitors makes for a pretty good atmosphere come game time.
