Kokoro Sushi - Salinas

Normally I love this place but they definitely dropped the ball on the combination tempura appetizer. It did not taste fresh at all, however, the tuna sashimi was fantastic! Super fresh and sliced to perfection.

The chicken was outstanding, and there was plenty of it! The tempura also came in a generous portion and was well-cooked, but the batter was quite thick. It wasn’t like that on previous visits, so I hope it was just a one-time occurrence. Overall, the food here is really good.

The rolls are decent, but I wouldn't say they're worth $22. The portions are a bit on the small side for that price, with only 7 pieces. Additionally, the rolls were messy, fell apart easily, and were cut unevenly.

The dinner combo is a generous and delicious meal! Everything at Kokoro is consistently tasty.

No other sushi restaurant compares to this amazing hidden gem in Salinas. It offers the best variety and freshness around. My favorites are the Raider roll with extra sauce and macadamia nuts, as well as the Chad roll. The soup and salad are always fresh. I highly recommend this place for sushi—forget about Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur. If you want sushi, Kokorro in Salinas is the place to go!
