El Desquite Mexican - Salinas

Fairly priced food good atmosphere, the waiters are fairly young and inexperienced but they are cute so that makes up for it! We tried the seafood platter which has 4 different kinda of shrimp, steak, fries on a bed of lettuce served with a plate of rice and beans! It's was very good and we were full! Nothing special about this place, good place for people who wont trek to the east of Salinas for Mexican food! They also have bands on the weekends, I went on a Saturday and it was country night and a friend of mine was there on Sunday and they had a Spanish band!

Went to a concert here. It ended up getting cancelled halfway through, the owner was telling security not to let anyone in, and that they were at capacity, when there was PLENTY of room inside. Cops showed up, beat up and arrested like 12 kids, two of whom were my friends. Terrible, terrible restaurant. Horrible staff. This place needs to be boycotted.

We rented this place out for a party. At the time of agreement we were told the rental included our choice of food from the menu, all you can drink soda and fresh mexican waters (horchata, jamaica). I understood that the food was for certain hours but i never imagined that i had to buy my own drinks after 9 pm when I had rented the place from 3pm to 11 pm!!!!! Of course i did not buy my drinks i complained to the owner. The most rediculous thing was that the owners wife was telling my guest that the soda did not come with ice cubes .... Other details that made me go crazzie, I told the owner off and said next time he rents to someone of course not me cuz i will not give my money to that business!!!!! and don't recommend it to anyone, he needs to let people know at time of discusion the small details mentioned above in detail so then i would have said no to the rental... Who the hell tell your guest no ice inculded with the drinks, and with the original agreement of guest attending aprox. and not all showed up, leaving me with extra plates, they tried to tell me i had to pay for more drinks.... The owner's wife needs to back off and not be rude howv do u want to gain customers and recommendation if all she did was be stingie and stand by the soda machine so no one else can get any drinks when it was 2 hrs before it was over at 11pm terrible service, terrible ownership, no leadership, this place needs to be boycotted...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way its not called El Desquite no more its Casa Del Pollo #2 cuz the #1 is on laurel st but same owner!!!!!

Good food and lots of it. Reasonably priced menu, beer and wine. Very casual atmosphere, stop by anytime for a beer or a complete meal (with beer). My favorite is the fish taco, you wont be disappointed if you go to El Desquite.
