I ordered oyster sauce, which usually comes with broccoli, but this dish had onions and carrots instead. Very odd. Save your money and avoid ordering from this restaurant.
I had higher hopes for this restaurant, as the food exceeded my expectations despite its poor reviews. However, I cannot give a positive review due to waiting 2 and a half hours for our food. While we understood that they were busy, we were disappointed by the small portion sizes and lack of apology or compensation for the long wait. Spending £20 on a meal that left us still hungry was disappointing, and it felt like a bit of a letdown. I try not to critique small businesses, but this experience left us feeling unsatisfied and somewhat cheated.
I ordered food at 9:20pm and it arrived two hours later. I called at 10:40pm and was informed that it was out for delivery and should arrive soon. However, it didn't arrive until 11:20pm. The food was cold and the prawn crackers were missing even though I had paid for them. I attempted to call them but there was no answer. The service was absolutely terrible and I will be ordering from a different restaurant in the future.
Chicken fried rice was awful, rubbery cheap chicken. Definitely won’t be going there again, avoid avoid.
I used to love having Oriental Express down the road, you could go in there and see your food being cooked fresh. Now it’s fresh from the freezer to the pan! Salt and pepper chicken wings frozen and dumped in the fryer, then plonked on a teaspoon of fried onions in a takeaway tray. At one point the chef cried out ‘I don’t want to work!’ Whilst infusing bad karma into my bone dry chicken chow mein with 4 bits of chicken, the chow menu used to have broccoli, bamboo shoots, carrots and water chestnuts in an unctuous sauce, now it was a desert of dryness, if only the distressed chef had cried into it to add some moisture! Look, if you want deep fried quick stodge to soak up your beer then it’ll do the trick but I remember when the food used to be good, such a damn shame
