Downtown Market Deli - Salem

My mother and I were in the area for a doctor's appointment and feeling hungry, so we decided to try something new. After searching on Google maps, we stumbled upon Alsham and decided to give it a try. The owner was very polite and welcoming, making us feel like valued customers. Although our food took a little longer to arrive than expected, it was well worth the wait. We both ordered the lamb shawarma combo plate, which was a generous portion at a reasonable price. The lamb was delicious and perfectly seasoned, accompanied by tasty saffron rice and pita bread. The stuffed grape leaves had a strong and tangy flavor, while the spinach puff was a surprising standout with its flavorful filling and crispy dough. As a fan of sweets, I couldn't resist trying their Baklava, which was simply amazing and almost brought me to tears with its incredible flavor. We even bought some to take home with us. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with Alsham and will definitely be returning as a loyal customer.

Great food!!! So delicious! Their baklava is to die for!!! Their stuffed grape leaves were delicious. Haven't had a menu item I didn't find delicious! Fresh made, never frozen, they put real heart into their food

I dropped by the Alsham Restaurant on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I saw they had a market underneath, but didn't know that not only do they have a lovely mom and pops convenience store below, but they also have a cozy little restaurant area upstairs with freshly made delicious Mediterranean food! I had some Lamb Shwarma and it was truly some of the best I've ever had. The lamb was cooked to perfection and it was served with a side of fries that were FANtastic. I could tell they were made from scratch and not just thawed out in a back room which is a nice change from the norm. Our server Tony (who, turns out, is also the owner) was the best too. He recommended us items, showed us around the shop, he even took a picture for me and my date! After our meal he asked about desert and when we unfortunately denied, he let us try a balaclava sample and now I might have to go back just for some of their balaclava! All in all it was a wonderful experience that I'd recommend to anyone and everyone in Salem.

Great gyros. The lamb is the best, and is worth the extra cost. Get the lunch special and you can save a few bucks while still getting fries and a drink. The little restaurant seating area up above is quiet, and the waitresses are all polite and friendly.

On our way back from a trip to southern California, we decided to stop at this restaurant. Both my wife and daughter ordered the beef shawarma and thoroughly enjoyed it. I opted for the lamb shawarma and was equally impressed. The restaurant's seating area is located above the grocery section, creating a cozy atmosphere. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our meal.
