The Barton House, Salado Tx

Our server was excellent, and the manager checked on us just the right number of times. Our food arrived hot and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the Puccini mimosa carafe and the spicy Mary’s. Among all the tasty dishes we tried, everyone was eager to share the (du jour) tomato soup that my adult son couldn’t finish, and we wondered how perfectly it would have paired with the Wisconsin cheese breakfast sandwich. The quiche was perfect, while the salmon cake Benedict was delicious, with a light and airy cake. It could have benefited from a biscuit or some potatoes to soak up the yummy sauce left on the plate—my husband used potatoes from my omelet dish, which were plentiful. The omelet itself was very good, though it could have used more cheese, and the potatoes were delightful. However, I didn’t enjoy the sweet arugula salad; a savory vinaigrette would have complemented it much better. That said, the staff was more than willing to accommodate any additions or changes we requested. Overall, it’s a fantastic destination for a meal, whether you're shopping on Salado Street or just looking for a great place to eat.

The atmosphere of the restaurant contributed to the overall enjoyment, so it gets a 5 as well. I highly recommend trying the cheesecake and the chocolate mousse cake – they are both exceptional!

The service was also exceptional, receiving a 5 as well. The atmosphere was equally impressive, also rated a 5. I highly recommend trying the Chocolate Mousse Cake, Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna, and Salmon Croquettes Benedictine.
