Enjoying a meal at Le Moulin de Civadoux is different than most that I've had in France because it was so communal. Meaning there was many offerings at a fixed price and you enjoyed what you wanted, and the environment lent itself to speak to other diners. (Not often done in France. The restaurant is owned by two sisters, Sophie and Béatrice: they grow, farm, cook and serve everything. Each night is a different menu. On the night we were there, it was a green salad with toasted pine nuts, zucchini fritters, vegetable soup, coq-au-vin, amazing desserts, and other offerings. The decor is cool with painted cement carvings, vaulted ceilings, plants, and big windows. Even the ladies' room was surprising, with a single stone carved sink! There is also a group of cabins on a small river to rent. And after dinner, the sisters played music for us, and it was a very nice change to mix easily with other people. It was a delicious and fun evening, like being invited to a dinner party. The care and welcoming pride the sisters show is felt and tasted with every bite, and I highly recommend everything about this little French restaurant find.
No service whatever, a packed restaurant with one old lady doing the serving. It took just under an hour to take our drinks order and then she has to be called after an hour to take our food order. After almost 2 hours without food, we left. She was grumpy, badmannered and bad tempered, she made us pay for the bread we had eaten at table waiting to be served. If you don't like flies, don't go there, Never again.
J'adore ! A réserver rapidos.
