Ruth's Chris Steak House - Saint Petersburg

Our visit started off a bit rocky. We were there for a considerable amount of time before a nice gentleman, named Mark, asked if we had been helped. He was gracious enough to be our waiter. He did a wonderful job. My daughter loved the filet and sweet potato casserole. My shrimp and crab was lovely.

I eat at Ruth Chris regularly. Most times my husband and I dine-in at the Tampa location. This time I ordered takeout and was told it will take 15-20mins. I arrive 26 mins later and my food wasn’t ready, waited another 30mins and finally received my order. I drove 6minutes to my mothers home to eat my food. When I took a bite of my lobster Mac I was utterly disgusted that my food was literally refrigerated cold, proceeded to take a bite of my salmon that was also cold as if it had been sitting in the refrigerator and microwaved. Look at the photo you can see the grease in the corner that was formed into a solid due as it would once refrigerated. The only thing that was fresh was the complimentary bread. I was even more disgusted that I called the restaurant the moment I took my first bite and had to leave a voicemail. Days surpassed my voicemail never got acknowledged so I submitted my concern online, that too didn’t get acknowledged so I sent an email weeks later…..still no acknowledgment. While my experience at other locations have been satisfying, this location has made me extremely disappointed and I’ll never eat here again.

Last week my partner and I decided to try the Sundial location for dinner. Normally we go to Bern's for every Valentine's Day and anniversary but wanted to switch it up. Let me preface this by saying we still love Bern's..... BUT the shrimp and tenderloin was absolutely to die for. We both agreed that this one filet was better than the hundreds of steaks we've had at Bern's throughout the years. My partner ordered a blueberry mojito and it was the best cocktail we've ever had. The last thing that made our experience just *that* much better was the fact that they sent us out a free dessert. Totally not necessary or expected, but such a kind gesture. We had no issues with our dinner and no reason to need a free dessert. Our server was very polite and attentive. Food was amazing. (We enjoyed the dessert before I even thought to take my phone out and take a photo lol)

Went to the st. Petersburg location for our anniversary. Service was fantastic and the food was worth the price. Very delicious.

When you go to Ruth's Chris, you have expectations. They were largely met, but it will be a bit of time before we return as there are many dining options downtown. My wife's steak was not medium rare, and while we all appreciate our potatoes with butter, it was more like butter with some potatoes. The service was also a bit off. Perhaps just our waiter that night, not sure. Given the prices and expectations, they have set a high bar for themselves. Given that, they should hit a 5-Star rating on all cylinders, but tonight was an off night.
