First off we ate at the one to the left of their main building. So am not sure of the ambiance at their main location. The food was excellent. I have veal parmigiana, and my wife had veal marcella. Although it didn't come with a salad. You get 3 asparagus stems. I asked for bread, and was charged an additional $6 for half loaf. My wife asked for a some red sauce, and was charged another $3 for a little dish of sauce. With the $35 price for each of our dishes, the total with tip came to $111.00. I wouldn't mind paying that price, except for the ambiance wasn't there. We sat a a small wooden table with wooden chairs without cushions. Could have gotten that table and chairs used for around $100. The rest of the inside tables were about the same. The other seating was outside at umbrella tables. To me that type of setting, doesn't call for the price they charged. Added to that the ala carte charges added onto the meal price just spoke non professional.
After years of wanting to try it out, we finally came for a family dinner on Easter. Our experience could not have been any better. The weather is perfect for an evening on the covered veranda. Besides the food, the ambiance is stellar. Very rustic, Italian feel. It is perfect for a romantic dinner yet also a family meal. The bread! I was not expecting to be blown away by it. Soft and so flavorful. It was definitely worth the additional fee for adding 2 loaves of bread to our table. I think I would return just for the bread. We were a party of 10 and service was on point from start to finish. We ordered a few apps, all with no complaints and everyone's dinner was on point. The 4 cheese pasta dish was a hit, with 3 of them ordering it. I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola, and while I loved it, I would opt for the mussels next time. Luckily my brother had ordered them and let me try some. The aroma! Taste was just a strong as the smells. I wish I had ordered this! He had it over the homemade pasta. Perfect dish. I highly recommend Pia's both for quality of food and the ambiance.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pia's Trattoria, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The bread served with dipping oil was incredibly fresh, and the sauce was a delightful blend of sundried tomatoes, pesto, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, earning a solid 8.6 for this appetizer! The real star of the show, however, was the Pinsa Pizzette. Its phenomenal flavor profile was both light and packed with taste, and the addition of hot honey was a stroke of genius. The crust was truly exceptional, earning this dish an 8.9 rating. Moving on to the entrees, while the Chicken Parmesan was good, it didn't quite reach the heights of the other dishes. The tender chicken and flavorful sauce were highlights, but the in-house-made linguine left something to be desired. Additionally, the inclusion of asparagus felt like an odd choice. Overall, a respectable 7.2 for this dish. What truly elevated the dining experience was the outstanding service and the charming atmosphere. The attentive staff made us feel welcomed, and the live music added a delightful touch to the ambiance. In conclusion, Pia's offers a memorable dining experience with standout dishes that showcase freshness and creativity. I highly recommend stopping in if you live or are visiting the St. Petersburg area!
We came here a while back and had a great experience. They were so accommodating for gluten allergies and our server was so friendly. Our friend got a four cheese gluten free pasta and was reassured that the kitchen takes gluten free allergies seriously, which was really comforting. Her pasta was delicious and she said she would love to come back here. My girlfriend got a pasta that had squid ink in it and she said it was incredible. I got the chicken Marsala, it was a good portion size and was really delicious. For dessert we had a gluten free chocolate cake and we devoured it. We have a hard time finding places with gluten free dessert options so we were really happy to find this place they had 2 or 3 other gluten free dessert options, too! This place is really quaint and nice inside. The lights were dimly lit and there were candles and low lights which made it feel nice and cozy. We loved our meal here and we will be back without a doubt.
