Shore 96 - Saint Paul

I visited for lunch and noticed that the reviews mention the Walleye as a popular choice. I ordered a Walleye sandwich, but it was a bit over-fried and had a strong fishy taste. However, the boiler chips were quite good. Perhaps I just made the wrong choice on my order. The restaurant seemed to be a favorite among the local Shoreview crowd and was quite busy. I would be willing to return and give it another try.

I was quite disappointed with the price of the red wine here. It cost me $14 for a glass, which I've never encountered in any fine restaurant I've visited before. There wasn't even a wine list available to review. This experience has left me very unhappy, and I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends and family. It's truly ridiculous, and I hope the bar staff understands their responsibilities better.

When we arrived, another friend approached a waiter to ask if a wallet had been found. The waiter informed us that it was at the bar, which we thought was good news. My friend, still shaken, went to the bar and asked, "Did a wallet get left here?" The bartender confirmed that it had, but when my friend asked if it was hers, she felt the staff was giving her a judgmental look, as if they suspected she might be trying to claim someone else’s wallet. The bartender then looked at her oddly when a nearby customer questioned why she was claiming it. We had to explain that my friend was nervous and unable to speak up properly. A group of girls nearby misinterpreted the situation and assumed my friend was trying to steal the wallet. It felt very much like my friend was being unfairly profiled. We had spent the whole evening together, so it seemed ridiculous that a random 16-year-old would attempt to steal a wallet. My friend was only trying to do the right thing by retrieving it, but the staff at Shore 96 seemed to leap to conclusions and treated her as if she had done something wrong. It left us all feeling uncomfortable, and it made me wonder if there was an element of bias at play in how they handled the situation.

Great food! Our waiter was warm! Amazing cheese curds and tarts! My mushroom Swiss burger was made to perfection, big frits, and a big two heart Ale Thanks Shore 96!

The service is ok but was not welcomed by a server. The food is pub food and is decent. Good selection of beers and nice for an after work drink.
