The space is serene and well-maintained. We really enjoyed the food—it was excellent! We're so glad we decided to stop by. Although we're from Iowa, we'll definitely be returning. Food rating: 5/5.
The restaurant features high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. The portions are generous and the prices are affordable. It's as close to a couple of Chicago classics as you'll find anywhere in St. Louis. A fantastic neighborhood spot that's definitely worth a visit. I'll be returning soon. Food rating: 5/5.
I ordered an Italian beef sandwich and a gyro. I requested that my beef sandwich be extra dipped, but it wasn’t. I was hoping for a taste comparable to Chicago’s version or even better, but I’m a bit disappointed — although it was still edible. It lacked something, but I understand that taste is subjective. When I had the gyro later, I found it hardly had any meat; there was more sauce than meat. I would have gladly used my $5 tip to pay for extra meat. Overall, I'm slightly disappointed with the food quality given the price. That said, the gyro did taste better than the somewhat dry beef.
Great hole in the wall spot!Even though I moved out of the city I come back periodcally just to stop in here for the good eats!Food: 5/5
Vinnie's Italian Beef Gyros makes a great attempt at replicating a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich, but unfortunately falls short due to the use of the wrong type of bread. The “crusty bread” used was too thin and lacked the flavorful crust that is a hallmark of a true Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich. As a result, the sandwich felt like it is being served on a soft hoagie roll.Other than the bread, the rest of the sandwich was well-made. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the giardiniera, and mozzarella cheese made a nice addition. The sandwich was served “wet” with a flavorful au jus.Overall, Vinnie's Italian Beef Gyros is a decent option for a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich. However, the use of the wrong type of bread prevents it from being a truly great sandwich.
